Bitter Patrick Reed reveals why he WON’T be watching the Ryder Cup after being snubbed from Team USA

LIV Golfer Patrick Reed will have an open schedule from September 26-28. Watching the Ryder Cup will not be one of the ways he fills that time.

The former Masters champion is currently in the UK – getting ready to take place in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth after struggling in the Irish Open over the weekend.

It’s been a season of ups-and-downs for Reed – who won a single event on the LIV Tour in Dallas and had a top-3 finish at Augusta, along with seven LIV top-10 finishes. But he also missed the cut at the PGA Championship and at The Open Championship.

During the Irish Open, Reed revealed that he had been wishing on a slim chance that he’d hear his name from captain Keegan Bradley’s mouth when the captain’s picks were revealed.

‘Yeah, I mean, I was hoping,’ Reed said. ‘I knew it was going to be an outside shot just because of not being able to get points and things like that, just being on LIV.

‘But honestly, I felt like the game’s been really good until this week.’

LIV Golfer and Masters winner Patrick Reed will not be watching the Ryder Cup from home

He continued: ‘I mean, the driver has just been awful. I feel like this week has not been reflective really of how I’ve been playing, how I’ve been hitting the ball. I’ve been hitting the ball great.

When asked if he’ll be watching the Ryder Cup play out at Bethpage Black on Long Island from the comfort of his home, Reed said that watching golf isn’t really his thing.

‘I’ll definitely be rooting for the boys. But it’s one of those things that I don’t watch golf when I’m at home,’ Reed revealed.

He continued: ‘I play so much. Because I’m always out practicing and grinding. If I start watching golf, I start turning the mindset on to analyze and to do all that.’

‘I realized that when I had my two little ones, I mean there’s life outside of golf. So, when I’m not practicing or playing , I’m home being a dad, being a husband, being a father and all that.

‘Just having a good time rather than trying to be so tuned in to golf and watching other golfers play.’

Reed has appeared on three Ryder Cup teams, but none since 2018. He also hasn’t appeared for the US national team in any competition since the 2019 Presidents Cup.
