Justin Rose declared the timeless thrill of victory after clinching the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, revealing his signature wit and confidence on social media.

The English golfer, who notably turned down a staggering LIV Golf contract, secured the win in a dramatic sudden-death playoff against J.J. Spaun, capping a stellar tournament performance.

Rose’s victory, which resulted in agony for Tommy Fleetwood after another near win, came after he finished regulation tied with Spaun at 16-under par. It was on the third playoff hole that Rose sealed the deal with a clutch birdie, marking his first PGA Tour victory since February 2023 and making him the oldest European winner in the modern era of the Tour.

At 45 years old, Rose’s resilience and longevity continue to impress fans and competitors. His back-nine surge, including six birdies after being one over at the turn, propelled him into the playoff and ultimately to victory.

The win earned him a $3.6 million payday and 2,000 FedEx Cup points, boosting his playoff position significantly. Reflecting on his performance and what the victory means to him, Rose tweeted after the win: “It will never get old… only me!”

Speaking after the win, he said, “That was an amazing last 90 minutes. I never stopped believing. Everyone calls me meticulous, precise, prepared – but I’ve always known I’ve got it inside.”

The win secures Rose’s place among the top 30 in FedEx Cup standings and guarantees him entry into next week’s BMW Championship. It also puts him within striking distance of qualifying for the Tour Championship in Atlanta, a long-time goal for the English star.

Other notable performances at the tournament included Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood, who both finished tied for third at 15-under par. Scheffler, the FedEx Cup points leader, used a final-round 67 to maintain his position, while Fleetwood’s bogey on the 17th hole cost him a spot in the playoff. Despite another close call, Fleetwood continues to search for his first PGA Tour victory.

The tournament also impacted Ryder Cup standings, with Rose’s win boosting his position, while Shane Lowry’s tied 59th finish dropped him from fifth to seventh in the European points standings. Lowry remains in contention with further opportunities, including the upcoming BMW Championship.

With this win, Rose now boasts 12 PGA Tour victories, including a major championship at the 2013 U.S. Open and two World Golf Championships titles. His career earnings have surpassed $68 million, and he has amassed over 115 top-10 finishes across both the PGA and European Tours.
