Max Verstappen Gives His Bold Opinion on the Incident with Lewis Hamilton at the Hungarian GP đź‘€

Budapest, August 4, 2025 — The Formula 1 world is once again buzzing after a tense on-track clash between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The two championship rivals made contact during a heated battle for position — and Verstappen isn’t holding back in his post-race comments.

The incident occurred on lap 32 as Hamilton attempted a daring overtake on the inside of Turn 1. Verstappen, who had been leading a tight pack, closed the door, resulting in light contact between the two cars. While neither driver was forced to retire, the moment added fuel to the fire in an already intense 2025 title fight.

Verstappen: “He Knows Exactly What He’s Doing”

Speaking to media after the race, Verstappen didn’t mince words.

“Look, I’ve raced Lewis long enough to know his tactics,” he said. “He knows exactly what he’s doing in those tight corners. If I hadn’t held my line, I would’ve ended up in the gravel. I’m not going to back down just because it’s him.”

The Dutch driver went on to accuse Hamilton of “testing limits in a way that’s dangerous for both of us,” and called on the stewards to take a closer look at “repeat behavior.”

Hamilton Responds Calmly

Lewis Hamilton, who finished one position ahead of Verstappen in 3rd place, was more reserved in his comments:

“It was hard racing, no doubt,” Hamilton said. “Max is always aggressive — we both are. But I don’t think there’s anything more to it. We left each other space, and that’s how it should be.”

Despite the friction, no penalty was issued during the race, and the FIA later confirmed the incident would not be investigated further.

Championship Implications

With only 8 points separating Verstappen and Hamilton in the championship standings, every battle between the two feels like a high-stakes showdown. Hungarian fans witnessed yet another chapter in a rivalry that has defined modern Formula 1 — and shows no signs of cooling off.

What’s Next?

Both drivers now turn their attention to the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. Verstappen, clearly fired up, hinted that he would be “even more determined” going forward:

“I’ve said it before — I’m not here to make friends. I’m here to win.”

One thing is certain: the drama between Verstappen and Hamilton is far from over, and fans can expect more fireworks as the season heads into its decisive stretch.
