Alexander Isak breaks silence on joining forces with Florian Wirtz as Liverpool prepare double transfer bombshell

Liverpool are on the verge of launching one of the most explosive transfer windows in their history — and Alexander Isak has now broken his silence on the possibility of linking up with Florian Wirtz at Anfield.

According to reports from Fichajes, the Premier League champions are preparing a €120 million (£101m) offer to sign Newcastle United’s star striker, with the deal including a €100m fixed fee and €20m in performance-related bonuses. The Reds view Isak as the ideal long-term No.9 and a central piece of Arne Slot’s attacking rebuild — especially amid growing speculation over Darwin Núñez’s potential departure.

At the same time, Liverpool remain in advanced negotiations to land Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz in a club-record transfer, signaling their intent to challenge across all fronts next season.

Speaking to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, Isak addressed the rumors directly: 🗣️ “Of course, Liverpool is a huge club. When you see the kind of project they are building, with talents like Florian Wirtz possibly arriving, it’s exciting. Playing alongside someone like him would be special. But for now, I remain focused on Newcastle — we’ll see what happens.”

Isak, 25, had a standout season at St James’ Park, scoring 27 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions. He finished as the second-highest scorer in the Premier League with 23 goals, only behind Mohamed Salah’s 29.

Liverpool’s interest in Isak has intensified as Newcastle look to renew his contract, which runs until June 2028. If talks stall, Liverpool are ready to strike, having identified the Swede as one of their top targets.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Liverpool have already locked in Jeremie Frimpong and are “pushing hard” for both Wirtz and Isak, aiming to close both deals before the end of the summer window’s first month.

The idea of seeing Florian Wirtz feeding passes to Alexander Isak in a revamped Liverpool attack under Arne Slot is already sending shockwaves through European football — and if both deals go through, it would mark one of the boldest statements of intent in recent Anfield history.
