Fabrizio Romano reveals Liverpool eyeing shock summer move for Xavi Simons

In a stunning revelation, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are seriously considering a move for Xavi Simons this summer, with the Dutch star potentially on his way out of RB Leipzig despite only joining the Bundesliga club permanently from PSG earlier this year.

The 22-year-old winger has been one of Leipzig’s standout performers this season, notching 10 goals and six assists in 29 appearances, and his performances have not gone unnoticed. Liverpool, alongside Premier League rivals Manchester United, are reportedly among the top contenders for his signature.

According to Romano, while no deal has been finalized, Liverpool have made their interest known and are monitoring the situation very closely, particularly as uncertainty looms over other attacking targets.

“Liverpool are keeping a very close eye on Xavi Simons’ situation,” Romano told his followers in a social media update. “The club is well aware that he may leave Leipzig this summer and discussions are ongoing internally. He’s seen as a top talent and one for the future – but of course, price will be a big factor.”

RB Leipzig are expected to demand around $92 million (€85 million) for Simons, a figure that could prove to be a major hurdle for Liverpool unless they negotiate a lower fee or include performance-related bonuses.

Simons himself has remained coy about what lies ahead, adding fuel to the speculation. Speaking to Sky Germany, the Dutch international said:

“I’m still a young player, I have many dreams – and the club knows that,” he said. “But right now, the most important thing for me is to play well in the upcoming games. Then we have the international matches, and after that we’ll sit down and see what happens.”

Simons’ connections with the Dutch contingent at Anfield — including Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch — could help ease a potential transition to the Premier League, should Liverpool step up their pursuit.

With Mohamed Salah signing a new two-year deal, the Reds have resolved one of their biggest squad questions, but a long-term replacement is still on the agenda for new boss Arne Slot, who may see Simons as a natural successor in the wide forward role.

Whether or not Liverpool are willing to meet Leipzig’s steep asking price remains to be seen, but with Fabrizio Romano confirming genuine interest, the Anfield faithful may yet see another exciting Dutch talent arrive at the club.

New footage shows Max Verstappen confronted by FIA boss

In a dramatic turn of events at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen found himself at the center of a heated confrontation with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, as newly surfaced footage reveals a tense exchange that underscores the growing friction between drivers and the governing body. Verstappen, still reeling from a controversial penalty imposed during the race, opted to sidestep inquiries regarding his recent clash with Oscar Piastri, leaving fans and pundits buzzing with speculation about the implications of his silence. The incident, which occurred on the opening lap, saw Verstappen earn a penalty that many believe was mitigated by the FIA’s policy of leniency during the early stages of a race. The stewards confirmed that while Verstappen’s actions warranted a penalty, the decision to impose a lesser punishment was influenced by the circumstances surrounding the incident. This raises a pivotal question: was the penalty fair, or merely a reflection of Verstappen’s stature in the sport? Verstappen’s comments following the race hinted at a broader discontent with how the FIA manages its disciplinary measures. His assertion that “people can’t handle the full truth” when he shares his opinions adds another layer of complexity to an already contentious relationship between drivers and race officials. This confrontation not only highlights Verstappen’s frustrations but also signals a growing divide in the sport regarding accountability and transparency. As the season unfolds, the ramifications of this encounter are likely to reverberate through the paddock, prompting further scrutiny of the FIA’s decision-making processes. With tensions on the rise and the championship battle intensifying, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this situation evolves and what it means for Verstappen’s campaign and the integrity of Formula 1 racing as a whole.
