Charlie Woods
Charlie Woods’ high school golf coach wishes Tiger Woods‘ son “could just relax and play” when he is competing for the Benjamin School golf team but then concludes “he’s got a lot of Dad in him.”
Benjamin School boys golf team coach Toby Harbeck made his latest feelings be known about the son of the PGA Tour legend during an interview with Palm Beach Post.
Harbeck’s comments came after Charlie, 15, helped the ‘Buccaneers’ finish second in Monday’s Class 1A Region 4 tournament at a windy Miami Shores Country Club.
That was enough to book Benjamin School’s place in next week’s state championships.
Benjamin Boys will now be looking to capture their second straight state championship and a fifth overall.
Despite a slow start at the Class 1A Region 4 event, the Buccaneers stormed home to finish second and secure their place in next week’s state championships.
Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest won the event with a combined score of 7-under par.
Benjamin School finished four shots back on 3-under par.
Charlie carded an individual round of level par.
His father and 15-time major champion Tiger Woods was watching his every move in a golf cart.
Woods, 48, was once again spotted with a black sleeve on his leg.
Last month Woods confirmed he underwent the sixth back surgery of his career.
Woods was joined in the cart for part of the round by his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, per Palm Beach Post.
Charlie and Tiger WoodsWoods reportedly chatted briefly with his son after he made a birdie on the 12th.
But otherwise he let Charlie crack on.
Elin greeted Charlie with a celebratory hug after he made his par putt on 18.

Charlie declined an interview with Palm Beach Post after his round.
But his golf coach Harbeck did not.
When pressed for comment about Charlie’s progression in the game, Harbeck replied: “He’s tough on himself.”
Harbeck continued: “If he could just relax and play, store some of that energy, it’s good. He’s just young. He’s got a lot of Dad in him.”
The state championships will be held from 12-13 November at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
What is Charlie Woods’ golf handicap?
Charlie has a +3 handicap index with the Florida State Golf Association, according to the PGA.
Tiger once had a +9 handicap index in 2008.
