Rampage (2018) is an action-packed American science fiction monster film directed by Brad Peyton, loosely based on the popular video game series by Midway Games. The story revolves around Davis Okoye (played by Dwayne Johnson), a primatologist with a special bond with George, an albino western lowland gorilla. When a rogue genetic experiment goes wrong, George mutates into a massive, uncontrollable creature. But George is not the only one. Two other animals, a wolf and a crocodile, undergo similar mutations, growing to gigantic proportions and causing chaos.
As the monsters wreak havoc across the United States, leveling cities and destroying everything in their path, Davis must fight to protect George while also trying to stop the destruction of Chicago. The city becomes a battlefield, with high-octane action sequences featuring military helicopters, tanks, and ground troops clashing with the rampaging beasts. Skyscrapers crumble, explosions erupt, and the streets of Chicago become a war zone as the mutated creatures wreak havoc in their unstoppable frenzy.
One of the most intense action scenes unfolds when Davis, alongside Agent Russell (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), leads an aerial assault against the wolf, code-named Ralph, as it leaps through the air, taking down helicopters. Meanwhile, Lizzie, the mutated crocodile, emerges from the Chicago River, destroying bridges and military installations. The action crescendos in a spectacular showdown on the top of the Willis Tower, where Davis and George face off against the other two beasts in a desperate battle to save the city.
The film’s visual effects bring the chaos to life, with incredibly detailed CGI rendering the immense destruction, while Dwayne Johnsonโs heroic stunts, combined with George’s agility and brute strength, make for adrenaline-fueled moments that keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
