Mike Tyson issues alarming health update before Jake Paul fight – ‘It’s hard to walk’

Mike Tyson is due to take on Jake Paul in November but has already postponed the fight once due to his ill health when he suffered an ulcer flare-up

Mike Tyson has admitted he can barely walk as he prepares for his fight with Jake Paul.

Tyson and Paul are due to fight in November after the heavyweight legend was forced to postpone their fight from its original July date. On that occasion he suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, an incident which sparked concern over the 58-year-old’s ability to compete.

And Tyson has now admitted he is struggling to walk after returning to the gym – but insists he will be ready to face YouTuber Paul. “It’s hard to walk right now,” he said while attending a Cage Wars event. “But two months from now I’m going to be perfect. The fight is won in the gym. Listen, I’ll do anything that will help me. I’m going to enjoy my time here tonight with all my 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood friends, and the hell with Jake Paul.”

Tyson has not fought since he and fellow legend Roy Jones Jr met behind closed doors in 2020 with the pair battling to a bore draw. Prior to that, Tyson’s last outing was almost 20 years ago when he quit on his stool after five rounds of his fight with Kevin McBride. Paul, meanwhile, who is 30 years his opponent’s junior, has fought 11 times since he made his debut in 2020, albeit predominately against former MMA fighters.

Most recently he stopped bare-knuckle boxer and former UFC star Mike Perry who had stepped in to replace Tyson in July. That followed wins over Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva, all of whom had graced the UFC cage.

Paul and Tyson met on the very field they will trade gloves on last night as they faced off at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Up to 90,000 fans will be in attendance in November for a fight which will mark Netflix’s entrance into live boxing.

Fans took to social media to offer their views on the fight, with one saying: “Why does anyone care about this bulls*** anymore? How long has off and on been happening?” while others still believe Tyson will KO Paul despite the age gap. “I would not want to be on the other side of Mike Tysons stare into my soul. I will pray for Jake,” said one, while another added: “Tyson would f*** him up.”
