Unfortunately, it seems that the world continues to fail puppies again and again.
The number of abandoned and neglected dogs continues to rise, shelters are full of dolls that need help.
Fortunately, there are still good people who are determined to help every animal in need and show that they can still lead a happy and loving life.
One of these guys is Donna, a rescuer from St. Louis who, with countless rescues under her belt, does everything she can to make sure that every dog feels the love he deserves.
Rescue at last
When a neighbor noticed an abandoned Doberman wandering in a random backyard, they immediately decided to contact Donna Lochman, the Chief life-saving officer with the Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL).
Donna immediately responded to the call and made her way to the site.
“We don’t see a lot of Dobermans. I was kind of surprised. I don’t know if he was thrown into this neighborhood or what. But he was in a rough state, ” Donna told The Dodo.
Fortunately, this amazing dog did not resist the leash, as if knowing that he was finally rescued.
He was so weak that he could not even jump into the car, but, fortunately, Donna was allowed to pick him up and put him inside.
Once she was inside, the small team made their way to the St. Louis rescue shelter.
In the shelter
As soon as he arrived at SRSL, all the staff immediately fell in love with him.
Their hearts broke when they saw the condition of this incredibly sweet boy who, whenever he had the opportunity, went to get some hugs and pets.
The staff gave this beautiful boy, who was later named Albus Dumbledore, an examination from head to tail.
The examination revealed that he had a large, open tumor and an infection of the upper respiratory tract. He was also severely malnourished and had no appetite.
The shelter staff did everything they could to treat him, but what Albus really needs is a loving foster home that provides him with more individual and personal care.
Fortunately, that’s exactly what he got.
“He wasn’t here all this time before the 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦sitter came to pick him up,”Donna said.
The brand new puppy
The time spent with his sitter really helped Albus to return to his paws. After only four months, he completely turned into a happy and healthy puppy.
“He looks like a Doberman now, skinny with no ribs showing. His appetite is great and he is getting more comfortable with the touch. He was always affectionate, but he did not like to be touched in some places. He learns new things every day even though he is very excited and easily distracted”.
The transformation that this puppy has received-the transition from severe malnutrition to happiness and health – is all thanks to the dedication, love and admiration of amazing human beings.
Without them, who knows what would have happened to sweet Albus.
That’s why I would like to take this opportunity to thank every rescuer who dedicates his time and life to helping animals like Albus and showing that there is still a family that will love and appreciate them just as they deserve.
