Jorge Masvidal rose to fame with his unexpected flying knee knockout of Ben Askren in 2019. He is one of those UFC veterans who have experienced superstardom during their prime years. Masvidal was a huge draw, and participated in various big pay-per-view events. Now, a year after his retirement, ‘Gamebred’ is back and is willing to fight Michael Chandler.
Michael Chandler is now in limbo, awaiting the highly anticipated Conor McGregor fight. Following the cancelation of UFC 303, the anticipation around this fight has dwindled, with fans losing patience. Chandler expects a December bout with McGregor, but nothing has been officially announced. Masvidal has stated that he will return to face Chandler on the December Vegas card.
It could be this year. It could be Vegas, December seventh. I’ll knock Michael Chandler dead on his a**. [Or] it could be next year Super Bowl. Knock somebody else on their a**. I don’t know.
Masvidal is frustrated over Conor McGregor stalling Chandler and will be pleased to step in and end Chandler’s aspirations. He recently lost his boxing bout against old rival Nate Diaz via majority decision and contested the result. The Miami-based fighter believes he was robbed and wants to recover from it. As such, he is willing to make his MMA comeback.
Jorge Masvidal reveals he’s in talks for UFC return after Nate Diaz boxing match "left a bad taste" in his mouth earlier this year:
"It could be this year. Vegas. December 7th. I knock Michael Chandler dead on his ass. … Leon Edwards don't want this smoke."

Masvidal’s last four MMA bouts ended with him losing all of them. However, his retirement fight against Gilbert Burns was something special. The former BMF champion hung his gloves in front of the Miami fans, who gave him an incredible departure. He still has a contract with the UFC.
