“Weird this isn’t Phil Mickelson”; “Good pick” – Fans react to Brandt Snedeker’s new vice captain post on the 2025 US Ryder Cup team

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has announced that Brandt Snedeker will be the vice-captain for next year’s event. He is the second vice-captain chosen after Webb Simpson was picked last month.

The 2025 Ryder Cup is set to take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. While Luke Donald is set to reprise his captaincy role for Team Europe, Keegan Bradley has been announced as the new US captain, replacing Zach Johnson.

On Monday, August 12, Bradley picked Brandt Snedeker as his deputy, stating that he was someone he wanted by his side. Snedeker is a two-time Ryder Cupper but will take on the vice-captain role for the first time.

Fans had mostly positive responses to Brandt Snedeker’s selection. Many fans praised the decision. Here’s a look at some reactions:

“Weird, this isn’t Phil Mickelson,” one fan wrote.”Good pick. Any Payne Stewart Award winner gets my nod as probably a decent human being,” another fan posted.”great guy – thought he retired. Is Dicky Pride the next pick?” one user wrote.”Sneaky 4-2 record, and a real competitor who seems well liked and respected by his peers. Love it!” another fan remarked.”It is like The Revenge of the Nerds where all the uncool kids get to run their RC whilst the insiders are asleep at the wheel,” this fan commented.”I was hoping he would get a sponsor exemption onto the team,” one user wrote.”I hope to bring the passion and pride to help Keegan” – Brandt Snedeker on becoming Ryder Cup captain

Following his selection as Ryder Cup vice-captain, Brandt Snedeker said he was excited to work with Webb Simpson and added that they would do everything in their power to prepare the team for the Bethpage event next year.

The 43-year-old golfer thanked Keegan Bradley and the PGA of America for the opportunity to represent the nation. He was quoted as saying, via the Ryder Cup:

“The Ryder Cup is unlike anything in our sport and I hope to bring the passion and pride to help Keegan deliver his vision of what a Ryder Cup in New York should look like.”I am so excited to serve alongside my good friend Webb and know we will do everything in our power to help Keegan and the players be ready for a great competition next September at Bethpage Black.”

Snedeker is a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour and also won the 2012 Tour Championship. He was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2007 and has made 79 top-10 finishes since his debut.
