Lorsqu’une abeille pique, son dard, qui est barbelé, se coince dans la peau de sa victime. En essayant de s’en libérer, l’abeille laisse derrière elle une partie de son abdomen, y compris une partie de ses organes vitaux, ce qui entraîne sa mort.
