Edinburgh wingΒ Ross McCannΒ has been a late addition to Gregor TownsendβsΒ ScotlandΒ squad for their Americas tour in July.
The 26-year-old has spent much of the season with the Great Britain Sevens team,Β but after their failure to qualify for the Olympics at the weekend at the repechage in Monaco, Townsend has taken advantage of McCannβs availability.
Though still uncapped, McCann was also called into the Scotland squad during theΒ Six NationsΒ this year, before returning to the HSBC SVNS circuit, where GB finished eighth in the overall standings.
McCann committed to the 15-player format in May by signing a two-year deal with Edinburgh, and and could very well see himself capped this summer.
Scotland face Canada, the United States, Chile andΒ UruguayΒ in July, which may provide Townsend with the opportunity to hand some new caps out.
βItβs a dream come true to sign a permanent deal withΒ EdinburghΒ Rugby,βΒ McCann said after signing for Edinburgh.
βIβve always wanted to play for my hometown club, and now I finally get the chance to do that.
βEdinburgh is home for me. I went to school here and rugby-wise, itβs where it all began for me. So to be able to sign here and pull on that Edinburgh jersey in front of my family and friends will be an incredible feeling. I canβt wait to get stuck in and show everyone what I can do.
βThereβs a real sense of pride in representing your hometown club and Iβm determined to give everything Iβve got for Edinburgh Rugby. Itβs a special place to play and Iβm excited to be a part of it for the next two years.β
