Tears of Pride: Luis Diaz’s Father Breaks Down in Joy as Son Shines Against Brazil

The father of the Liverpool forward was watching the game at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla, Colombia, with his spouse.

After seeing his son score both goals for Colombia in a 2-1 victory over Brazil in a World Cup qualifying match on Thursday, Luis Diaz’s father broke down in tears.

At the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla, Colombia, Luis Manuel Diaz, sporting a silver rosary and a Colombian shirt, fell on top of spectators and sobbed with his spouse, Cilenis Marulanda, while celebrating.

The 58-year-old was reunited with his son on Tuesday after being kidnapped by the ELN guerrilla group and held captive for 12 days.

“Thanks to God. It’s all made possible by him. We have always experienced difficult times, but life gives you courage and strength. After the game, Luis Diaz, who plays club football for Liverpool, observed, “So is soccer and so is life.” “We deserved this victory.”

Two headers were awarded to Diaz; the first came in the 75th and the second in the 79th minutes.

After 15 games, Colombia’s victory over Brazil in World Cup qualifying was a first.

“He is a friend who is going through a lot right now. “This goes beyond football; he deserves it,” remarked Diaz’s Liverpool teammate Alisson of Brazil, the goalkeeper.
