David de Gea’s most recent social media tweet has caused Manchester United supporters to lose it.
The Spanish player, who won the Premier League Golden Glove award the previous season, ended his 12-year tenure at Old Trafford in July when his contract expired.
Erik ten Hag replaced him with Inter Milan’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had a rough transition to Manchester.
This season, the 27-year-old has been responsible for several goals. He made mistakes in United’s Champions League loss to Galatasaray and gave up a soft opening goal against Brentford at Old Trafford last time out.
Since then, there have been rumors in some sections of United’s supporters that the team may attempt to re-sign De Gea, who is now without a team.
After the 32-year-old was seen dining with loan signing Sergio Reguilon at Old Trafford, rumors started to spread.
Since then, the goalkeeper has caused fans to lose it again after sharing a selfie with Bruno Fernandes, the captain of United.
De Gea posted the picture and the words “Together again” on Twitter on Sunday night. An emoji of sunglasses was also included.
The two seem to have been at a gathering for Rebels Gaming, a Spanish esports company that the goalie from Spain owns.
Since leaving England, De Gea is rumored to have moved back into his family’s Madrid home, where he resides with his wife Edurne Garcia and their 2.5-year-old daughter Yanay.
De Gea reportedly rejected a trade to Inter Milan in the summer, while he was also connected to a move to Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich.
In the event that he is unable to find a suitable club, the former Spain international is apparently thinking about retiring.
