No wonder why Avengers: Endgame was a massive hit. The superhero ensemble cast was one of the best parts of the movie that enthralled every Marvel enthusiast. However, this enormous triumph had its fair share of behind-the-scenes drama led by the incredibly talented actor Robert Downey Jr. The actor has some of the most unusual demands on the set, out of which is Iron Man’s preference to keep the set ice-cold.
According to The Direct, a writer visited the Endgame set while working for Vanity Fair in 2017 and revealed that:
“The vibe is interesting… It’s – this isn’t in the book, so it’s exclusive to The Watch – it’s ice cold in the studio because that’s how Robert Downey Jr. likes it. So everyone else had to layer up, because Robert Downey Jr. likes things at a certain degree…”
The writer explained that due to the actor’s demand, all the other cast members had to wrap themselves up to handle the cold and keep themselves stable. The writer even disclosed that Robert Downey Jr. not only had a crazy demand but the actor had his own trailer inside the studio, separate from all the other cast members that depicted his certain level of preference on the set.

Inarguably Robert Downey Jr. has had phenomenal sway in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by slaying his iconic character Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the superhero world. It was exceedingly challenging for fans to accept the iconic figure’s death in the universe. The actor himself couldn’t hold back his emotions and cried upon receiving insights into the destiny of Tony Stark.
In a book titled The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Tara Bennett and Paul Terry, the Russo Brother, along with several other Marvel associates and actors have unveiled some of the notable tales about making its 23 films. Joe and Anthony Russo recalled the moment and wrote:
“When we started winding down the pitch, and getting to his death, Robert started crying. And when we were done, he said, ‘That’s f**king awesome.’ That’s when we knew that we had to do it. Because he felt it.”
Even though it was difficult to reconcile with Iron Man’s fate in Avengers: Endgame, it was the best that the iconic figure could ever have. The Oppenheimer star experienced a profound sense of sadness, nonetheless, he was satisfied and knew that one day this would happen, and as was planned, Tony Stark died at the end of Avengers: Endgame, marking an end to the actor’s iconic character.
However, there have been hints suggesting the possibility, from some of the producers and actors that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but things remain uncertain until an official announcement.
