Dominik Szoboszlai explained how signing for Liverpool has already surpassed his high expectations as he detailed his determination to bring further success to the club.
The Hungarian has made a brilliant start to his Reds career after arriving from RB Leipzig in the summer, impressing as a starter in all five of the team’s Premier League fixtures so far this season.
He already feels at home in Jürgen Klopp’s midfield and at Anfield in particular, with the No.8 looking to keep on delivering for the supporters he’s developing a close bond with.
“I worked a lot to become a player of Liverpool,” Szoboszlai told Liverpoolfc.com. “It was a dream.
“But I think for every football player it’s a dream to play for Liverpool, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“And also the fans, the club, the history and that you can play with these legends and players that I’m playing with, it’s a pleasure to be here. Just the fans, just the stadium, just the team, just the history of the club – everything.
“I want to achieve a lot of things this year and not only this [year] but the next couple of years as well.”
On Anfield, he continued: “It’s really nice. It’s even better than I was thinking.
“As I said, I want to play as many times as I can. I’m enjoying, they are enjoying and [if] everybody is enjoying then I’m happy.”
After beginning their Europa League campaign on Thursday night with a 3-1 win at LASK, Liverpool now turn their focus back to Premier League matters.
West Ham United are the visitors to L4 on Sunday afternoon as the Reds look to register their fifth league victory in a row.
The hosts will go into that encounter confident and with the knowledge they have overcome various hurdles already this season.
Szoboszlai stated: “I’m confident anyway all the time but, of course, as we win the games and we can turn the games in our way, it gives us even more confidence.
“It would be even nicer if we don’t go 1-0 down and then we need to get up. If we score the first goal, it’s a little bit easier. But if we have to do it like this then we are going to do it like this.
“We just need to be focused, we just need to be ready for everything. Also, we know what we can achieve this year, so we have to be ready always.
“[Treat] every game as if it would be the last one, every game as if it would be the final of the Europa League, Premier League etc.
“I’m looking only game to game to game, so I’m not thinking about the next, I don’t know, 10 games that are coming. The next game is West Ham. So, I’m looking game by game and just trying to do my best.”
In the midst of a busy period of games, Klopp can take the opportunity to utilise the full depth of his squad.
The quality runs extremely deep and is clear to see from recent performances from substitutes, according to Szoboszlai.
He finished: “This was the main thing that the manager was also talking about – that it doesn’t matter who is playing, who is starting, who is coming in, everything can change.
“As you see in Newcastle, Darwin made a big change. Also Harvey now on the weekend – maybe it was not his goal because they didn’t give it to him but I give it to him.
“We have such good guys, a good squad and everybody is ready to fight for each other.”
