Justin Thomas managed to navigate the rigors of the PGA Tour season without injury. Parenting, not so much.

The two-time major champion is enjoying some time at home with his wife, Jillian Wisniewski, and their daughter, Molly, before the Ryder Cup, which tees off at Bethpage Black in three weeks.

Thomas was one of Keegan Bradley’s six captain’s picks for the showdown with the Europeans in New York, and he is expected to play a prominent role in a relatively inexperienced American team. The event begins on Sep. 26, and in the meantime, Thomas is recharging his batteries at the $13.5 million mansion he shares with Jillian and Molly.

The time with his loved ones does not appear to have been particularly restful, though. The world No. 5 fell victim to one of 10-month-old Molly’s toys, leaving a gruesome mark on his forehead.

Thomas uploaded a video of the embarrassing incident recorded by his wife to social media. Jillian gave viewers a bref summary of the situation, saying: “OK, so everybody sees this little toy. It has little suction cups on it. Dad was playing with Molly, and…”

She then panned the camera to her husband, who bore what appears to be a large purple bruise in the center of his forehead. Being a good sport, Thomas said to the camera: “Toy and Molly one, Justin, big, fat zero.”

Thomas followed up with a post on Instagram, sharing a picture of himself holding Molly while showing off the mark his face. The 32-year-old wrote: “Happy Thursday everybody. Did y’all have a good Wednesday? I sure did…. #DadLife”

The ailmant surely will not cause Thomas any issues in regards to the Ryder Cup. He was the first on Bradley’s list of captain’s picks.

“Justin is the heartbeat of our team. He had an amazing win at RBC [Heritage] this year,” the Team USA captain said. “He’s the fifth-ranked player in the world. This guy was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 to play Ryder Cups and specifically, I think, at Bethpage Black.”

After his selection was confirmed, Thomas summed up what the Ryder Cup means to him. He said: “I think I’ve developed some unbelievable friendships in these events. These are guys that we obviously are all very friendly and cordial and see each other all the time, but it’s just a totally different vibe when you’re there.

“You’re battling for each other, playing for each other, not just for yourself, and it’s an opportunity to get to know them, their wives, families, whatever it may be, and it’s probably a good thing that these events happen every so often because they do make them that much more special.

“Captain has done a great job of choosing the team and then also who’s qualified. Everybody is here for a reason, and I would tell anybody to just be themselves, especially the guys that have rounded out this team.

“They’re either qualified or are being picked for a reason, and to just be ready when we get there and enjoy because it’s going to be a pretty crazy, wild week.”
