A new telegraph pole went up without warning outside my kitchen window – it’s completely ruined my once unspoilt view of the picturesque countryside

A homeowner has told how the picturesque view from her country home has been blighted by an eyesore telegraph pole.

Jo Heartfield, of Cheshire East, is a photographer who enjoys snapping images of the rolling fields from her kitchen window.

That was until telecoms workers allegedly turned up on October 7 and erected the pole directly in line of her view and opposite a small country lane.

Ms Heartfield also fears the huge mast will blow onto her house in the event of a storm.

The homeowner is the latest in a string of residents across the UK to tell MailOnline about their telegraph pole nightmares, with many claiming the masts have ruined their view or even blocked driveways.

Speaking to MailOnline, Ms Heartfield said: ‘It’s awful. I have two windows and it’s [outside] both of them.

‘This used to be a beautiful view and as a photographer I take a lot of photos of the landscape in that direction, every time I do now I have to edit the pole out.’

Ms Heartfield claimed she had ‘no notification prior’ to the mast’s installation in October, and has since filled in the pole objection form in a bid to have it moved elsewhere.

‘It would be easy to resolve this by simply moving the pole a few metres to the right where it would not be directly in our view,’ she said.

‘They could have with good planning placed it there in the first place, I can’t see why anyone would have thought this placement would be ok.’

Ms Heartfield claimed she was told the pole was being used to serve a nearby business, and not local homes.

‘The only business on this lane is right at the far end, a sand quarry, the new poles go all the way down the lane towards the quarry,’ she said.

MailOnline has contacted BT for comment.

In September, homeowners in Great Harwood, Lancashire, slammed a huge fast-internet mast installed on their estate that they claimed resembled a missile or NASA rocket.

The 50ft pole was placed on the corner of Bostons and Causeway by IX Wireless Network to provide 6G internet but left many residents fuming.

Lisa Denicola, who has lived on Bostons in Great Harwood for 15 years, said around 30 people in the neighbourhood objected to the mast’s installation and had various concerns about its implications on the value of their properties, wildlife and health.

An IX Wireless spokesperson said at the time: ‘The company is keen to work with local residents and welcome any input which can help to improve our service.

‘Where possible we have made efforts to move structures and poles after speaking to members of the community.

‘This pole was due to be moved to a new location but this was not possible as the company must give a specified time – 28 days – for any objections to be forwarded. There have been no objections as far as we are aware so the pole is due to be moved at the end of the month.’

Rachel Reeves’s real job ‘was customer relations’… rather than an ‘economist’ at Halifax as she had on her CV

Chancellor Rachel Reeves reportedly misrepresented her job title from her time at retail banking firm Halifax, the parent company of the Bank of Scotland. The Labour politician’s public LinkedIn profile had previously stated that Reeves worked as an ‘economist’ for the Bank of Scotland between 2006 and 2009. However, amid accusations that she had lied about her qualifications on her CV, the profile was updated to read that the Chancellor has been involved in ‘retail banking’ at Halifax, The Telegraph reported.
